Planning to swing by Laax in January (despite the advice from one poster on here that I'd be better suited to Lenzerheide!)
Little bit wary, though, of the description in one guidebook/website about the hotel billed as good for lads on a weekend away and gives its guests earplugs when they check in!
Where to go in the New Year??

Ha ha... but the term ride is used very often for both Skiing and Snowboarding. )

I was kind of happy with my choice on Laax, but the more I hear the less convinced I am.

Have you considered Crans Montana? Good to go earlier in the season as it holds its snow better then. You might enjoy the amount of area available.

Those of you going to Laax for the skiing/boarding won't be disappointed. It is a good resort and has a good variety of runs. It is however in my opinion overrated. There are equally good or better resorts around that just don't have the same reputation and therefore are less crowded or have less of an attitude around the resort. I was contemplating heading up there this weekend as its one of the few places open at the moment, but the weather got a little too warm so I didn't bother.
To the person worried about the hotel... Its not the Riders Palace that you are staying at is it?

No, it's not the Rider's Palace; why would I go to a cycling hotel on a ski holiday?

I ski. I dont ride. I would ride a bike or a horse. Well not a horse actually as I hate them. But I would ski a mountain, I wouldnt ride it.
