No there is not. There is what I would describe as a smallby pass which links with the main road that goes up the valley. The main town centre is relatively QT apart from the night slalom week when the whole ski circus comes to town.
Schladming is a working town as opposed to some resorts which are no more than ski resorts. For that reason it may not be as pretty as some places but all the Austrians that go skiing there themselves cannot all be all wrong. For those who want to be surrounded bt Brits and Irish then give it a miss, but the ones that are there go for good reasons.

Keep you're Fez on !!!! it was only a question ........ look for the question marks it's always a give away, many years ago I did consider Schladming but I'm a bit anti Austria so I'll give it a miss
till I have forgiven them for there rudeness on a holiday a few years ago.
You see I am a dyeing breed I expect quality for my money and when they do not not deliver I do not return 8)

Schladming was on my list for this year, but I ended up having to go elsewhere as the tour op pulled out of the resort. I had to go with the tour op, you see.
However, I will be giving it a visit. Ellistine is going for race week. I think thats possibly the time I would least like to be there personally, but they say its quite mental. I prefer to concentrate on my own skiing to be honest.
Doesnt bother me in the least what nationalities go there, as long as the skiing is good and there is a little variety off the slopes. I quite like the working towns as oppose to sleepy villages.
Ian, you and I need to visit Austria.
