Well, the skis are far too short, but you already knew that ;)

My advice? Stop getting drunk and going on Ebay 8)

Gareth, put the skis back on ebay. Sell them, before you spend more money. Cut your losses, do some reading, then some testing, before you buy some more :D

My Din setting on my other skis is 6. Thats about as technical as I get.
I have a pair of Atomic Izor 9:7 that I have never liked (another great e-bay moment) and could take the bindings off them and put on the new ones.
It gets worse. The skis I bought are only 157cm and I am 5 foot 8 and about 12 stone so I reckon they are to short.
I need guidence.... :(

I'm 5' 11" and ski off 160's weight at the moment is 13st 7lb and mine are fine, possible it could be argued that they are too short but what the hell they work for me.......if your 157's feel ok then go with them....why do you think they are too short??????

Bandit, I think you may have a point. I reckon I should just quit while I'm down.
Wickers, I suppose the reason why I think they are too short for me is because of advice from the folk on here and others. I have obviously not skiied them yet so have no idea if I will like them or not. The reason I bought them (beside too much wine) is because I have a pair of Atomic Izor 9:7's and while there good on piste their not so good over the bumps and in powder and I reckon I need something a bit more suited to everything. My problem is that while I love skiing and can manage to get down anything I really dont know enough about the technical side of it all. I used to race karts and cars years ago but would still have idae how an engine works. :?
What kind of skis do you all use and why???

In hope,Gar.
When in doubt?....Flat out.

If you can get back most of the money you have spent, there will not be too much damage done )

I'm 5'4 and somewhat lighter than Wickers  I don't own any skis like yours.. I did buy one pair of women specific AM skis in 158, after reading about how wonderful they were in the UK ski store catalogues. I used them for 1 week, and they went on ebay. I found them flappy. I would urge you to test before you buy, it's cheaper in the long run. Current skis are Stockli Stormrider AT 158, Head Monster 77 163 and Scott Punisher 172, there is more to skis than length alone these days.

There are lot more qualified people here to give to advice on equipment, what I can do is to give you the common sense approach without being patronising,I would suggest you at least ski them you will
never know if they are any good if you don't, unless you have a bottomless pit of cash and if thats the case buy more.
I have not had any problems skiing of my 160's although I have picked on a pair of Dynastar's off Mr Bandit which I intend to mainly use off piste, the decision is yours take the forum guys opinions on board and make a balanced dicision.
The two pairs of skis I will be taking to alps this winter will be a set of Fischer Carve ( 160cm ) 110-69-98 and the Dynastar Legends 8000 ( 165cm ) 116-79-102...... 8) 8)
