Didn't I just :D I skied with some friends on my first day (Friday) who had been there for a week and their tales of trying to get 2 kids down through the slush into Val Claret didn't sound like fun.

Last Wednesday they were shipping snow in by lorry to fill the holes at the bottom of Trolles so it's melting fast.

:D Nothing thankfully, but sometimes it felt as if lots of people were trying to 'get' me )

That's a relief! I do think that your feeling is real not imagined, and where you were skiing, has a large part to play in the level of anticipation of trouble.

The safest place to ski is off piste...

Definitely!

I think my experience has given me the ability to anticipate fairly well, and it is that alone that has saved me a few times!

You've nailed it, Neiltoo :!:
Many times the problems come back to the attitude: ..."I'm the only one here"... or; "My little one is the only one on the hill...give him space you moron" or, " I'm the instructor .. so come on class .. (aka: my little ducklings) ... follow my path across the trail ... we are here first.... anybody who happens along will just have to stop or go around us..."

Attitude and lack of respect of others can bring on disastrous events ! Just look at all the world conflicts and what started them ... narcissistic morons!
In case you couldn't tell, this is my greatest annoyance on the hills :D

"you seem to get slopes full of Robocop clad loons honing around the place without a thought for other slope users"

I think I would probably qualify as robocop clad  I'm not certain about the other bit :D

Still, 16 weeks of broken collarbone, which was a gift from a speeding woman skier, certainly focuses the mind on certain priorities )

Another thing that I noticed was lots of young 'seasonaires' who seem to have in depth discussions about the merits of different skis whilst on the lifts.
You watch them ski and they seem to have a genetic defect which stops them from bending their ankles, the only part of their skis that are in contact with the snow is from the middle of their boot to the tail. The concept of finishing a turn seems alien to them and they make up a large proportion of the people who scare me on the slopes.

Maybe its just old age
