Sorry to rain on your parade Dave - But would you consider buying a 6 year old computer, even if it was new?

Have you tried newer skis or are you just loving the old ones? If we ever cross paths I will have to get you on the Vists..

If Dave Mac is happy with his old skis at £49, let him be.

Not a valid comparison, I fear. As far aI can see, the main change is connected with edge shape and length. With computers the main changes in 6 years, are duality, capacity, some component technology, some speed and downsizing, and ....all at a cost reduction.

I keep my own skis in Niederau, but when I go elsewhere, I hire with Skiset. I normally change the skis midweek, so in an average season, I try at least 4 pairs of new skis. A wee bit of adjustment to technique....and off we go.

Not keen on too tight a radius, I find them unstable at speed. Also, dislike skis that are ultra-wide at the head and tails ~ Given that I have a preponderance for skiing legs together, a wide ski shows symptoms of AVK. My experience is that modern shapes of skis slow me down.

Apart from that, I don't get too hung up about skis. You can assume that in my skiing life, I have used a full historical range of skis.

Bandit once picked up on the fact that I had used marker latch up bindings, this giving me an age of 102 years, (she said) I was afraid to admit at that time that my first set of skis were wooden Elan Jets, screw on edges, with cable bindings, (£3.0s.0d) ~ so Tony's photo wasn't that far out!

I stand by the thought you would like the Vists lots.

174cm length, 116-66-101 giving them a 17m radius... I think. Perhaps not long enough for you but they scare the sh*t out of me. If you are going away from Scotland for a week and you are near by you are welcome to take them, bindings are on a system called 'speedlock' so they are easily changed to your needs. Unfortunately I don't think they would cope with leather boots

They look quite nice too:
