may do a few days in niederau, and then see how it goes i guess - doesnt seem to be much of a price difference no matter how many days you get anyway.

Try this:

Niederau is brilliant.

You can get a taxi to Hopfgarten which will get you into the Ski Welt area (including Soll) about 15 - 20 euros i believe. We had a car which was great for exploring ski welt & Kitzbuhel but tbh Niederau was a good base and a good place to go out and eat and drink at night. With a car or a good taxi driver you will not need to take a good book.....
