I went to Rauris last Feb as a beginner. My partner had skied before but got into some bad habits so we both decided to join the ski school.
We booked through Neilson and used what ever ski school they use (they wore lots of orange!!) I really enjoyed the skiing there and progressed quite well. Some of the blue runs were quite challenging and we later found out that they are really Red runs but there is a need to keep a certain number of blues in order to maintain the ski school at the resort (I dont know how true this is).
The great thing there was you could keep your boots and skis at the hire shop where the ski school meets so no need to walk in your ski boots.
I cant really comment on the skiing for those more advanced skiers but our ski instructor seemed to have positive things to say about it.
Rauris itself is a quiet place. We atayed in the Garni Kaisherer on B&B basis. It was more than aqeduate for our needs and only a ten min walk to the ski school which was a nice little warm up!!
I like to try different places but would go back to Rauris again.

I've been told this a number of times too. it also happens the other way round, reds which are more like blues, etc. it's good marketing apparently. not so good for people who are trying to progress

Neilson use the Adventure ski school (they did when we were there). I take on board the positive comments about the Karl Maier school. If we were to go back to Rauris, I'd book lessons in resort with the Karl Maier school. :P

Some of the blues in St Anton were more difficult than the blacks. No idea who grades them, but clearly someone had been on the schnapps.
