For a weeks skiing, 20Kgm is massive. I am always under 17kgm including ski boots.

The trick here is to find out what is permitted with cabin baggage. Take the largest bag permissible, and bung as much heavy stuff into there.
Thats very subjective, Dave. Some people do care about what they actually take to wear. I am sure you can live out of 1 pair of pants and socks for a week, but I cant )
20kg is just about right for a week IMO, assuming your ski boots are in the case as well. It leaves you enough for a change of top for each night of the week, a spare pair of jeans/trousers and shoes, and your essentials like gloves, goggles, etc - thats because I pack my jackets and sallos in the ski bag though, so I guess some people might wear their heaviest ski jacket to travel in.
20kg should be about right though for a week.
I prefer to put as much in the checked in bag as possible, and not have so much to hike about with me as hand luggage.

Its a blessing to have two kids then you can pinch a bit of their allowance, But its getting harder to do as they now like to choose what they take,Everything but the kitchen sink.

I also read BMI as body mass index  and thought you were trying to work out what was the biggest size person you could get in your ski bag! )
