Or you could buy what looks like a bin-lid (I think it's a modern sledge) from the local stores and walk up and down the gentle slopes having a whale of a time.

They have also had a night-time sleigh ride up to Peningdorf which is very good especially if the night is cloudless. That is what the sky is supposed to look like when you get away from all the city neon.

There is also the bummel bahn/zug that goes up the Zauberwinkl behind Jan's.

Snowmen also seem to spring up when there are children around.

Might be worth a trip up to the tourist office and ask what is on from them - they are usually full of ideas.

But like you said - the plans may come to nothing as you may all be too exhausted to do anything else.

And remember snowballs and sledging aren't just for children.

Each hotel, including the Alpenhof, have a weekly newsheet in reception, detailing events.

There are sometimes big and interesting events.

On December 30th there is a night time ski touring race from the village to the top of the Marbachjoch and down. That's for the amateurs. The professionals have to do it twice! Step up Ise and Bandit!

On 16 Jan there is a Synchronic skiing world cup event. This is a great display of skilled skiing.

In the following week there will be Training for some of the Hahnemkahn teams.

Do you know how it would differ from hiring a tobaggon and doing it yourself to doing it with a tour operator? do they take you somewhere different or exclusive. I noticed on the pdf info sheet that there is a section that gives you a price for taboganning. is this a special place?

Has anyone else noticed the amazing 'snow fall' according to the J2Ski forecast pages for Niederau? Is this an Admin funny as some of the forumites are due out there soon? :D

Yep I noticed that then thought about it and realised it could not be right! Checking it out tonight as going tomorrow :lol: Hope its all its cracked up to be. Weather looks good for the next week but cold so hopefully not too much snow melting. OP will let you know what there is to do when I get back next week.
