Well after all the praise that has been heaped upon Mayrhofen on this site, I can wholeheartedly agree with everything that has been said. Got back from there yesterday and had a brilliant week.
Have to agree with Tony H about Mo's, the best food and tidy waitresses.
The 3 best things I found on the holiday were:
1. Hooning down red #7 (Horberg side)
2. Getting lost in the mist in Egglam and walking through farmyards back to the lifts
3. The amount of fresh powder and tree runs
We stayed in the Straus Hotel and overlooked the main lift which was pretty handy.
With the Pound:Euro rate being so rubbish, everything is pretty expensive really, but you can always get fresh bread and fillings and make sandwiches for up on the hill.
Its between Mayrhofen and Hinterglem for the familly holiday next year I reckon.

Just back from Mayrhofen also and it was a great week, Thursday and Friday being proper powder days as Sminrnoff_Skier says.
Highlights of the week were:
1. running the lift line (through the trees) off-piste next to Red 5 in 2 feet of new untracked powder at 8am.
2. riding from the top to the bottom of Black 17 (3 times in quick succession) using the piste for about 1/6th of the run, the rest of the time playing around either side of it and coming home through the trees at the bottom. In about 3 feet of powder.
3. running Red 5 down from the Ahorn with absolutely no visibility and all the snow cannons going. Cracked/bruised a rib and did some damage to the board but it was great fun!!
Found the best Apres Ski bar also at Tux-Vorderlanersbach at the bottom of the Rastakelbahn, the Hexenkessel....great fun, right at the bus stop, tidy barmaids and a schnapps called Suße Hexe (sweet witch).
Can't wait for Grindelwald on Wednesday )

Glad you boys enjoyed Mayrhofen. Smirnoff, thats an awesome pic up the valley, looks like its on the Rastkogel side.
Red 7 is indeed a great run.

Dunk,
I'm also heading out on the 31st of Jan to Mayrhofen.
I'm staying at the Strass.
I'm really looking forward to it although I hurt my knee at football last week but I'm getting treatment and fingers crossed it will be fine for the holiday.
The £ to € rate sucks at the moment and probably will do for a while :(
Might have to give Mo's a visit for the barmaids although I'll be with the wife!! lol
