You dont need courage. Just a good map and some snowchains

Hi, we hire a car, but do it on the french side of Geneva airport...it's usually alot cheaper. Cost is simply dependant upon how many of you are travelling. We have also used the train or local coach transfers fron Geneva. Like you, we found the dedicated transfer companies to be too expensive.

Ineteresting problem, I normally choose my destination by picking somewhere relatively near a train station as I dont drive. Mayrhofen is a good example, but there are loads of places especially Austria. However I have done La Plagne by train before. I actually had the problem last December and found the cheapest way to do a trip to Val d'Isere was to book a package holiday from the UK (I live in Germany) and get cheap flights from here to London, before flying to France, took the chance to see some family and friends!!!

Ah, but from what I understand, car hire on the Swiss side includes snow chains.

The Swiss registered hire vehicles will also be fitted with winter tyres, up until April. However if you are visiting France, be aware that there is no compulsion for the Swiss hire car co. to equip your vehicle with a hi-vis vest, to meet French legislation. The hi-vis vest regulation does not exist in Switzerland.
