What people do for micro-naving in the mountains is have a little laminated card with some it worked out, this is mine for being on foot :

this saves people having to do the maths in their head, you could do the same for skiing downhill I would think

I agree, laminators are great.

When I go boarding for a week, I print of the piste map of the resort onto A4, insurance details on another sheet, laminate them together back to back. Then I take a scalpel and lightly score the result along its centre in both orientations, press it in quarter size with a cool iron et voila.....a perfect, flat, waterproof bit of safety kit for the mountain.

Dont bother for tiny resorts or limited opening, but it was bloody useful on my trip to Val d'Isere and Tignes where I was out on the slopes by myself nearly all day.

Hi Ian - get yourself onto www.sportsdo.net - a site devoted to gps and software that will record sporting activity such as walking, cycling and of course, skiing. There are several options but the one I use is a separate GPS device that Bluetooth's to my mobile phone, where the Sportsdo software was downloaded to. It's a lot less techie than it sounds but if you love gadgets you'll think this is great.

My best is 55.9mph down a Black in Gressoney - hope to beat it this season (as long as conditions are safe of course.) :D
