Ilove skiing,
You are very close,,but,,,,
The item that sells the most and has highest profit margin in ski shops in my area are the pins/patches! Second are the lip/sunscreens!
Now for that Ski Expense Report
Goal: To determine how much this activity costs for one season.
Content: All related costs! ALL ( no cheating)
Time: September 1 to end of skiing season!
Mike, I suspect (knowing you) that you have an Excel spreadsheet already! Can you send it to DaveMac (and others who want to participate!
The major expense "headings" might be;
equipement, Travel (car, gas, plane hotel, meals), Support material (magazines, videos, motivational tapes, posters etc..), medical (emergencies, modifications, etc,,), lessons, etc,,,
Please fell free to add headings Iloveski, Mike, DaveMac.
I will not list my expenses since it would not be fair. I am travelling to Utah for one month, then Nevada for another month of skiing! These trips are paid by industry concerns. I will visit my favorite ski area for another 3 weeks at my expense,(then again I get free lifts due to my work)!
I also have 4 trips to Europe to evaluate some new ski centers for a ski touring agency, plus I will be in Middle East for a small project and I always wanted to see snow in the middle of the desert,,, so it would not be "fair" to compare my costs!
Mike is a much more normal "typical" skier! Notice I use quotes on typical Mike! I am a little deviant skier!
A Friendly Challenge.

Pavelski, What are the pins/patches? Do you mean badges or ski pass holders?
Pavel, Until recently Taos was offered as a ski package destination by mainstream UK Tour Operators such as Skiworld. The resort may slip below the radar (again) for Europeans, as I see that some of the regular companies flying ski package tourists across the Atlantic have not yet released brochures.

Ooh I thinks I will have to pass on this challenge for fear of frightening my OH and bank manager. Apart from the holiday, clothes, boots, lift passes, drinks etc etc I would have to own up to........
The three new jackets I bought and only took one of them.
The five new pairs of boots that I only took two pairs away.
The new underwear that ladies always seem to want for their hols,
The expensive cuckoo clock,in Austria that I just had to have,
The new sunglasses, cos mine broke in my suitcase,
The jewellery Oh bought me ,cos it was my birthday,
The jewellery I bought myself, cos it was my birthday,
The scented candles that I could not resist,
The xmas decs that would look lovely which I tucked away and can not remember where.
The expensive camera that we just had to have to do our photo's justice,
The wacky hats that we thought made us so cool,
and so on and so on.
I must not add this up it will frighten me,
But I win hands down on the sunscreen and lip balm. I get mine FREE at the end of the season. So I do try to economise sometimes. (Smiley face ,cos my smilies dont work)

iloveski,
In North America there is some "traditions" in regards to skiing.
Every ski center has a cloth (sew in) patch which you can buy! Some people collect stamps or coins,,,well the fanatic skier collects ski patches.
Also there are some skiers who also collect ski pins. These are metal pins , very much like the Olympic country pins. What you must never but never do is have a chest full of such pins on ski jacket. Worst is to have 20-30 pins on ski hat!
What is cool is one pin from most exotic place such as Chile or New Zealand or the summum of all pins is that small level 4 ski instructor pin which took you 4 years to get! If ever you want a great "entry level" reason to have men/women "approach" you at the bar, wear such exotic pin, just one! Like honey for bees!
Those patches , what do you do with them? Well I have a complete wall in my tune up shop! Each provides memories of great ski days! I have lost some many skis, due to skiers having same ski bag as me and so they take my bag at the airport, that now all my travel ski bags have "unique ski patches" from ski resorts no one knows about! Never lost a ski bag since I posted those patches!

pavelski, North America, right, haven't been there before to ski. Never seen people wear them in Europe but can't say I've looked that closely.

AJ,
He did get a "care" package, however your suggestion is noted and I will send DaveMac a "unique" car sticker which I am sure will stop every skier in his area! It reads, " TAOS,,,a four letter word for steep" This ski center in New Mexico,,(yes New Mexico) is unique in North America! Very very private. very very steep with chutes and runs that most ski resorts would close! Skiers are also unique many post-hippie skiers who founded settlements, stores in the 1960's. Very unique skiers! Also one of the few private owned ski resorts! Look it up!
One of my hidden pearls! Below the ski radar in the world tour scene!
Yes that will provide him with several drinks at local ski pub!
