OK, so I have checked out some of these options and they are start at about £1200 per person regardless of the resort, including transfers, 6 day ski pass, breakfast and dinner. Does this sound about right, or are the Norwegian price standards coming into play? We can probably get a return to London for about £150 each if there are cheaper options there I guess.

That sounds expensive to me, but then I guess it depends on when you want to go. If its Xmas or New Year, I wouldnt be surprised to hear of such prices. However, early to mid Jan, or late March and you can get much better prices.

For example, with Neilson you can stop in St Anton in a 4 star hotel half board for between £700 and £850 per person, ski pass is £184 this season. Thats travelling early Jan, when its cheapest however. You should be able to get a discount for early booking before the end of October possibly, and never I dont usually expect to pay full brochure price anyway.

Crystal have some catered chalets in St Anton at much better prices, but they are not 4 star. Expect to pay between £400 and £750 depending on when you go for one of their chalets. Ski pass is again extra.

You can find some good 4 star hotels in Mayrhofen for similar prices to the catered chalets in St Anton, on a half board basis. The main tour operators all use them.

I am not entirely sure if it would make sense for you to fly to London and take a holiday through a UK company, but this might give you some options to consider.

Good luck.

Hi Leo, which dates are you looking to travel :?: Like Tony says, you can get it cheaper than that but it depends on the time of year
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

We are quite flexible in Feb or March, but were thinking more likely late Feb to early March.

Hi Leo,

I thought I'd give you some feedback on Obertauern as I went there In Jan this year.

The skiing area is absoultely huge and there are plenty of blues and reds for you.
There are so many runs to enjoy I'd highly recommend it.
There are also some difficult reds around but most are fairly comfrotable to ski.
This has been the best resort I have been to so far.

The nightlife is good for aprea ski and there are a few places to go at night.
The Luzer Alm (I'm pretty sure its called that) does good food and also gets busy at night but it isn't that cheap for drinks in there.

Enjoy Austria though as its great!

Sounds Great. I have booked into a trip in Obertauern for the start of March next year. Sounds like just the resort that I was looking for.

I think that Mayrhoffen is the pick for the year after, on Tony's suggestion, but Obertauern seems like a smoother spot for the first trip.

Thanks to all who have replied to this poost. It is much appreciated.

I think Soll would be a good destination from what you say you are looking for.

Does the restor have to be in Austria, cause there are other suggestions for France and Italy.

That's a coincidence Leo, I went Obertauern this year and I'm off to mayrhofen next year!

Sounds depressing saying next year so I'll rephrase that to say I'm going Maryhofen this season :-)
