There was a survey on another forum that sugested a left/right brain conection to this question. Seems engineers and techy type people favour goofy and artistic types favour regular.

I reckon you should give it a go and see what happens. On day one I got given a regular set up and had real problems with toeside turns, however I seemed to be able to link turns perfectly riding fakie. Didn't seem right so I made the switch- and it was a good call. I'm now thinking I should have spent 4 years slugging away at it like you as my toeside turns with my left leg leading still aren't up to much!

A good way of telling which is your favoured foot is to stand up straight with your feet together, get somebody (without telling you when first) to push you from behind the foot you put out to stop you from falling over is your lead foot.

Class dismissed

As it happens, I'm right footed and ride regular (left forward).

I don't believe anyone has come up with a good corelation between anything and your stance on a snowboard.

The latest school of style is to ride duck stance, so either direction is comfortable (if you're comfortable in a duck stance and I'm not). Most snowboards are directional and so even with a duck stance, you would still have a preferred direction.

I ride duck stance, with a bias towards the longer end of my board, 14-16° pointing forwards, and 8-10° pointing backards (naturally slightly splay footed anyway).

I taught myself to board as some on here might remember and had big problems riding front foot forwards with linked turns. I did have no problem however riding switch. No I can do both and can set my board either regular or fakie with no real trouble at all.

Being able to ride both ends of the board equally has made me massively comforatble with switching at high speed.

I just got back from Austria this weekend where my overall boarding has dramatically improved. I still need a few more days practice though

I agree with the advice of Trencher, just give it a try for a few hours (don't give up too soon) and see how it goes.

Alternatively you could go up the the top of Le Grande Motte in Tignes, with a really bad hangover and try and get down the series of red runs after realising you put your bindings on the wrong way round after collecting your board from service, worked for me!!!
