hi,
I'm 17 but thought i might have the perfct answer for you! - the dolomites
Its about a 3-1/2 hr journey from Bergamo, but is worth the drive. In my opinion the dolomites are far more impressive than the alps, sceanery wise, and has the same standard of runs.
Im going back to a place called corvara in the alta badia area (1500m). It's not the most atractive place, but is set in a very beautiful area. It is an ideal base to explore the 'sella ronda' circut. mostly blues and reds, long winding runs...some through trees.
I think it would be a good starting point for learning how to ski. It may be worth looking at the other towns in the dolomites, as i have only ever stayed in covara.
we are staying in the 'hotel la perla', which for me, no other hotel will beat. Their is a bigger hotel next door, 'sporthotel panorama' (is more touristy, big pool, spa ect...ect), as well as a few other nice hotels.
just as an extra, im travelling by train to corvara this time, so you might want to look in to the rail network from verona to bolzano. I know that the trains are about every 1-1/2. (not sure if they run from milan - i have a feeling that the station is not handy from the ariport) from bolzano its about an hour to corvara.

hope this helps

- corvara seems to be a well kept gem by the italians. plus, and heres the best bit, the food in the moutain restaurents is to die for! :D
