Excellent suggestion ( and quite unique), Meercat!
I will have to try this technique of "hoovering and dusting" as I wear my ski boots this Fall!
Already my kids I am a "little" off the wall, this will convince them to administer the MMPI to see if everything is alright!
Seriously Meercat, you are correct! Geeting to know your boots before you ski is an excellent idea!
buying boots.....here or in resort?

I'd say buy in resort.
There will be several shops to choose from, probably they will have some test boots which you can hire then if you like them swap them for some shiny new ones, possibly even get the cost of the hire knocked of the price of the boots.
Any problems you have you can just pop back to the shop, not any option if you buy in the UK.
You cann't really tell if they're going to cause you trouble used you ski in the them, walking about the house isn't going tell you.

I bought my boots from Filarinskis in Havant, Hants. The fitter was brilliant. I have difficult wide feet. He took over two hours heating moulding measuring etc., then sent me to the local dry slope (paid for the session) and then when I returned spent over an hour further tweaking them. Result....super comfy boots. I wouldnt hesitate to use them again.
If you have difficult feet then buy before you go, cos you'll waste valuable time skiing time. A good fitter will need the time to get the boots right.
