I am sorry but my idea of après-ski is cheesy Bavarian drinking songs that somehow seem to get everybody dancing:mrgreen: . Not a loud disco on the snow that alienates everybody over the age of 25/mental age of 10:shock:.

I think the key here is that Apres Ski is what you want it to be, depends on what you want

- Hot chocolate in the apartment
- Drink in the hotel bar
- Few beers in the pub
- Few more beers in the lively pub
- Few beers in the lively pub that involves dancing on tables
- Shed loads of beers at the Krazy Kangaroo (St Anton) and skiing down to the village in the dark half (fully) cut
- Shed loads of beer, dancing in just shorts and (if the girls are lucky), naked

I know which I prefer (having done a few of the above), and it isn't the hot chocolate.... ;)

Mmmm. The youth of today. I rest my case!

Thank God someone brought this up. I visited the FD in ADH a couple of years ago. Its Frances way of doing Apres ski up the mountain like the Austrians do, but very very badly.
It seems to attract a collection of pompous image conscious ponces who take themselves wayyyyyy too seriously ordering Bollinger by the bottle, and an even more worrying crowd of middle aged ex 80's ravers who still insist on dancing on tables to droning euro-house whilst smoking a spliff.
Add into that the freak show that is the camp as Christmas staff who "dance" there......

It was ok for half an hour and a couple of quick beers with a mate, as it was on the way down, but nothing more.

If you want to have proper fun, nothing compare to Austria, but even then my idea of apres ski these days is a friendly small bar down in the old town of wherever I am. Somewhere with a bit of character, some locals, no one in Onesies rolled down to the waist or GoPros on selfie sticks.....and a nice chat near an open fire about the day just finished and the one ahead the next day.

Or am I also getting too old?

I have been to the FD in VDI - and had a very enjoyable time.
Food is excellent - and of high standard.
The Cabaret is great fun and well done.
But do leave before the yobs, drunks, strippers etc etc arrive towards the mid to late afternoon.

And that's the beauty of this site, we all have differing opinions! I'm in Morzine next week and am very much looking forward to finding a good atmosphere in a bar with decent beer.....any suggestions would be welcome.

I'm glad it wasn't just me that wasn't a fan though!

Le Bec Juane brewery in Morzine, 100m to left of Pleney is well worth a visit and the food is quite good aswell.

I'm sure if I was in my mid twenties I'd love the place but as others have said it just looks far to pretentious for my liking. A few good beers in a good bar after a day on the slopes is perfect and if it has a pool table that's a bonus.
When in doubt?....Flat out.
