Flew home on Sat. Conditions weren't fabulous but we were able to ski everyday apart from Friday when the whole area closed because of strong winds.
We were based at Scheffau which had the best snow - even the valley run was open though icy & very bare in parts. Thye are anticipating more snow this week but I think the real problem is that there is no base...most of the mountains are green.
But it is a beautiful place to be and we will definately go back (need to return my crutches but that's a different story - is there a ski injury forum?)
Have a great holiday whatever happens.

Just got back from St Anton & Lech last night.
We had lots of snow and rain on Friday which made the lower mountain icy, but up top we had fresh tracks and found plenty pow, some very deep as it collected in some of the chutes!!!!
It is only the very bottom slopes that are without, so the #2 Kandahar is good if you want to do laps on th Zammermoose chair, or down Rautz #17
A lot more snow seems to be coming this week according to the forecast.
I am in Munich now and have noticed the temperature dropping considerably today so looking good.
Kerri - if Mayrhofen doesn't get enough, Hintertux is at the head of the valley and beinga glacier you will have something for sure. We were there last month and not only did we have the glacier's reliability, we got half a metre in a couple of days.
Pray for more snow!

It all seems to be going with the forecasts. It's started to rain/sleet in munich now so should mean snow in the mountains tonight

Its here - several inches in Munich should equate to heaps in the Austrian & German Alps.
St Anton was getting lots of precipitation last week, it was just too warm but that all seems to be changing now.
Pray for Snow

Hi guys,
Your due a fair dump on Boxing Day, but I wouldn't be worried, if you read through the history on the skiwelt website, all the link runs and the majority of the runs have been all open all season from start to finish, regardless of snowfall as they have a huge amount of snow making facilities, have a look at skiwelt on Facebook, they post live pictures a few times a day, hope you have all have a great ski holiday and hope this helps a little, merry christmas everyone.
Regards
Nick

There is no such thing as "the skiwelt conditions".
The Hohe Salve has the sun on it all day, and the runs are usually the first to feel the sun.
During December and early January, Söll, Scheffau, Ellmau and Going get hardly any sun on their village slopes. Add to that, many of the runs are tree lined, affording further shelter from any sun, and you can see that the ground temps will remain significantly lower than full sun air temps.
That is not to say that you won't get a few narish bits, but there should be plenty to ski on. 130cm scheduled to arrive on Thursday, but they will be making some machine snow too.
Of course the odd snow dance wouldn't go amiss....
