Yeh it was a good holiday, thanks Ally for recommending.
That black slope was evil. Loads of people asked if we needed help though which was good of them. Once we thought we were at the end there just seemed to be more and more slopes. Went on for ever and my Mrs wasn't getting any happier.
Then because it was towards the end of the day we were worried we would miss the lifts back home (lol)
And I'll let her know you like her skiing. Pffft she always does tell people she's better than me and now that's just made her head that little bit bigger lol.

When that happens to me, Sm4sh, it's usually because I haven't got my weight far enough forward, especially if it's a scary steep bit of slope and I'm sort of hanging back because I don't want to lean forwards down the slope!
It's very difficult to get your ski position right because it varies according to what you're doing, and the condition of the snow, like hard pack or powder. I have had several instructors who go on about being 'dynamic' and by this I think they mean adjusting body position to the situation and staying flexible.
Another thing they always go on about is keeping your shins well up against the front of your boot - which helps to prevent you hanging back when it's scary!
Have you tried reading any internet articles/books/watching DVD's on ski-ing? I find this helps to understand what the instructors are saying in lessons, although for myself I'm much better at just following instructors and doing what they do without thinking about it too much in my head! And even after loads of lessons I'm pretty useless at ski-ing moguls :(

Well, you did better than me Sm4sh. When I went to La Rosiere I wasn't as good as I am now at ski-ing, and we were having lessons in the morning. So I was afraid to ski over to La Thuile in the afternoon in case I accidentally ended up on a black run (like you did) and I couldn't get back in time before they shut the lifts.
Maybe you should secretly have some extra lessons in the snow dome to keep up with your OH??? ;)

I hesitated to bring up the subject of lessons and toyed with the idea of sending Mr Sm4sh a private message. I enjoyed the video very much, having been to La Thuile/La Rosiere in previous years.
Now the lessons genie is out of the bottle, I think Mr and Mrs Sm4sh should invest in a lesson or two; it will help enormously in taking their skiing to the next level - and avoid problems on the black or crashes on the bend before the lift!
This suggestion is meant in the spirit of being constructive. It's not meant to be impertinent or rude. I've been skiing for 40-plus years now and I always have a lesson early on to help remove the bad habits and keep abreast of the latest techniques!

Ha Ha, I know I'm not the best skier in the world and thought it would get commented on before now. I take no offence don't worry :)
I have thought about more lessons, this is the 3rd time away now and the first time we have not bothered with lessons. Mainly because we were looking for a cheap holiday.
Im not sure what the real name for it is but I call it wobbly leg syndrome. When im skiing I sometimes get one of my ski wobbling. Maybe my boot isn't tight enough?
Also I do want to get another couple of lessons in the future to try and help with my parallel skiing. When looking at more experienced skiers you lot seem to keep your feet together at all times and turn.
So yes I would like another lessons sometimes.

That's the right attitude; it really does pay off to get some good instruction. I doubt if your wobbly leg syndrome is due to your boots not being tight enough. Others will be along sometime to diagnose the problem, I'm sure! :)

Its just something I noticed when skiing. Its just when you look at the end of the ski it seems to shake a little
