That's the weekend I go.
The purpose of the question is, if you knew where you were going, you could contact your selected ski hire shop in advance, and ask them about possible choices.

The Salomon 3v has been discontinued, so most of the ones in hire shops are likely to be well passed their best. The life of a ski is measured in weeks, the internal components start to break down quite quickly so anything that is put into a hire pool is pretty tired by the end of the season. A really good ski that is worn out will be nowhere near as good as a less good nearly new ski.

If you liked the Volkls try Volkl Racetiger SC. They are specifically for slalom and really good for quick tight turns on piste

But also stiff and unforgiving.

Not sure. I just tested Racetiger GS and at no point did I feel the ski was about to kill me. I suppose SC will have more mellow character since it's made more for cruising than racing.

I get that Verbier, but I get the impression that Oojudoo is a one or maybe two week a year skier, and the last thing they need is a ski that needs effort to get the best out of it.
I like Fischers and love the Watea. Will try its replacement the Ranger this season. Anyone tried the Ranger 84 or 88?

Big chap so even a really stiff ski is going to work. Personally I am not keen on Volkl as somehow feel am not 'man enough' for them. Definitely worth contacting the shop you intend to hire from in advance as most now seem to have their default skis around the 80mm mark. Whole lot less fun than something narrow if you can get hold of it. Remember you can go pretty short on these, around chin height with boots on.
