What is this TO thing that has been mentioned?
Skied: On snow, On water, On mud, On slush, On ice. Oh, and on a few dry slopes.

Having gone through the same childrens ski scenario a few times I can strongly recommend (if your budget allows) to take the children to Breckenridge, Colorado. First of all English speaking instructors (NOT always the case in Europe despite promises from the ski school. Being able to interact closely withy children is so important at the beginning of their ski experience and one that will last for ever-remember your best teachers at school when you were young. Also the learning areas give rapid progression because they are so easy and confidence building. If you are going for Europe then there is an English run company with its own English teachers in Champoluc, Italy. I think they are called ski-2.com and they have a first class reputation.

Our children learned to ski in Livigno. it's a high resort with guaranteed snow, and a tax refuge, so it's cheap. The Italian instructors were great with the kids. The resort has three graded learner slopes alongside a full piste so meeting-up after you've skied 'proper' pistes is easy. Major downside is transfer time of 4 hours. In europe, I'd recommend Italian resorts for learner children, not just Livigno.

As mentioned, US resorts have the advantage of English instruction and customer focus. But the overall journey time is considerable, and you may be jet-lagged for a few days.

Hi Manston,

Assuming next year is this season 2014.
If you're thinking of going independently it's best to check flight availability first, as most flights and trains are full or extremely expensive.

If you're thinking 2015 then once again getting the flights booked early is a priority, and if you're thinking Montgenevre then there isn't a great deal of larger accommodation so once again best to get in there early.
