Hi there
Having just been to the skiwelt in January I can give you a bit of what it was like for me - a very nervous, very early intermediate (I can parallel turn but I dont like going fast and I prefer cruisy blues). I took my family there this year and I have to say it was the least I have enjoyed a holiday. We stayed in Ellmau which is supposed to be good for beginners - obviously the person making this assumption is an expert who finds those type of runs too easy. I can safely say that from an early intermediate (more likely beginner - this is my 5th skiing holiday) that there was not one run in the skiwelt that I loved.I found the whole area challenging and there wasnt one blue I skied down that (maybe except a run down into the scheffau bowl) that didnt have a hair raising moment The run from the funicular to the the bottom was just horrendous at the end of the day, extremly mogully and very very busy (and we were there at end of January so not even peak time). I was really looking forward to the run in Westendorf (111 I think) this run was ok but in places it was a narrow road. Also the run down to Scheffua is to be avoided as that is also a narrow road. I have a feeling that if you take your wife here, you might put here off skiing if she is quite nervous.

I will look forward to reading your web page with interest and pass it on to the rest of our group. Like I mentioned before, I have been to Soll 3 times the last being 2012 with an experienced Group, so a lot of the mountains we took for granted.

Good web page, pistepanther. I agree with your thoughts on accomodation costs. I just found b&b in a pension for €20,and ensuite for €22!
Might catch up with you in Söll. I usually drive over from the Wildschönau for the odd day in Jan/Feb.

Karen72 your points are well made. We are booked into Soll itself. I can vouch for the Apres being well suited for her. Like I mentioned earlier having her sister will be a huge carrot, but we will make sure she has a good time at her pace and pleasure.

Dave Mac, thank you for taking the time to read my website, and your kind comments, it's a relief to know that it is being well received! At the moment I am focussing a lot on first timers, but I am wanting to offer as much guidance as possible to them before they arrive.
Would be good to catch up! I am on the mountain virtually everyday day! But teach in the Scheffau area.......However, we could ski a run or two, and skiing to Söll or somewhere in between is easy enough! I really appreciate English company from time to time!

Scarlet Fez, I am indeed very grateful that you plan to read my web page, and pass it on to the rest of your group! That would be very kind as I am hoping to reach and help as many people as possible this season!
I hope you have an excellent stay in Söll this coming season!

The whole of the skiwelt must be buzzing tonight with that great 4th place in the Levi Ladies slalom by Chrisina Ager, from Söll. Great run by an 18 year old. She often trains on the Niederau race arena, and her coach, Günther Gerhard hails from Niederau.
This year, Christina and Günther have trained and raced in New Zealand and Chile. Ski racing is not for the faint hearted!
