And I bet you can eat 3 Weetabix as well DM :) No, I'm wrong: you only eat porridge and only put salt on it, never sugar, (let alone that pansy sassenach honey stuff) !

Now that's what I call a 'light' refreshment!!
Unfortunately, Ian, the younger generation don't seem to approve of drinking and ski-ing!
They miss out on so much fun!

Brucie, many of the older generation don't drink and ski, (not that this includes me, I am still only 28 years old...)
I have never understood this need to carry water around. Even when I ran my regular Sunday 20 milers, I didn't need water, and didn't really need to bother during many marathons. I certainly lost weight in those efforts.
I may stop once during the morning, but my choice of drinks are hot chocolate or pure blackcurrant juice, (as opposed to the fizzy stuff.)
As has been suggested, more experienced skiers use less energy, with the converse for skiers moving through the learning process.
Certainly, off piste skiing in heavy snow has an effect!
Anyway, I have found I have a propensity for playing catch-up after 5.00pm ......

dizziness, stars in the eyes, loss of vision and hearing...consequences of not drinking water in the mountain for me...
so I always carry a re-fill bottle of tap water.
What about eating snow...bad for you or not? Of course assuming you avoid the yellow snow.

if I'm not skiing then I'm kayaking.
