Sella Ronda -Worth the Effort?

Yes the SR ticks all the boxes, although, I still do not yet class myself as mature....

This is about skiing mountains rather than runs. As a painter, it provided endless rock/snow formations, wonderful scenery. Go both ways, they are totally different.

Done the Dolomites three times now and the Sella Ronda is always worth the trip round. Have never found it to be very busy and always something to explore of the circuit.Worth the effort to find the Crepe de Mont the run down through the trees of the button tow is just fab.It is always quite as most think the button tow is not worth the effort.. How wrong.Have stayed in Arraba and Selva and for the more advanced skier Arraba is the better option although après ski is virtually nil.Hotels in this part of Italy are of a high standard and put other resorts to shame some three star hotels are more like four stars.

Scarlet. I can really recommend the Sella Ronda area. It is vast with wonderful skiing, scenery, food and a really nice attitude. I posted a detailed review of my trip last year under the heading "Dolomites - Moena".

However, do not expect much apres. It is possibly a little better in some of the other villages but virtually nothing in Moena.

The short answer is 'Yes! Absolutely!'
The best skiing is in Arabba and Selva. The best après is in Selva and Canazei. Canazei is handy for skiing in both Arabba and Selva. Don't know what you're used to après-wise but it isn't St. Anton or Ischgl. Lots of nice hotels like you describe in all three resorts.

I don't see a lot of point just doing the circuit, while there are some nice runs, it's the skiing off the donut which is the star. Pick a destination for the day and take the shortest route there, spend as much time as you dare there then race back home.

Exact-a-mundo! Still reckon the best skiing (on or off the donut) is in Arabba and Selva.

Done Sella Ronda Orange route this January and IMHO it is definitely worth it! Agree with GazC about Hidden Valley. The most beautiful run especially if done from Cortina starting at Cinque Torri. No need for a taxi. Horse sleigh tow is only 1 euro pp and a lot of fun :D Snow in Dolomites this season is EPIC!
How I wish I was there :cry: Still off to Alpe d'Huez in 12 days, so cannot complain too much :wink:

I just got back from my ski tour of which 1 week was in Campitello....I liked the whole area...when I could see it ..there was lots to do and a week was ok to sus out the area as a whole and I want to go back to concentrate on some of the bits I liked...I did like Selva and St Christoph ...the world cup run was great...I think Campitello was great but a little quiet for some tastes and there was only the cable car up to the slopes..which was busy first thing in the mornings...It was excellent value compared to France ...A great pizza was only €8 and a coffee €2...you didnt feel as though you were being taken advantage of ...unlike some places...I will definitely return....a good place to explore
