I knew Len Silver years ago and the company have always had a reputation of choosing more mature staff and looking after them.
Pretty sure they are still quite big in Meribel which would be another really good seasons choice.

If it were me I would be already contacting some operators to see what the view is about employing a couple and what they may be looking for in staff for next year.

Job availability may well decide where you go.
Good luck!

we did the crystal ski chalet host course in September in La Plange.

The course leaders told us due to our age we wouldn't have a problem finding work as most company's would prefer to employ mature couples, the owner of the chalet we stayed in at Christmas said the same and asked us to apply to work for them.

This is a massive step for us both to quit our jobs so we want the location to be as perfect as possible, we don't care how hard we have to work but I want quality skiing for the whole season and lots of it!!

We will need a massive ski area to keep us occupied for the whole season

My short list would include, 3Vs, Val D/Tignes and Alpe D'Huez.

How much time do you think you will actually have on the slopes?

One day off a week does not sound like much. Considering that you have about six days whilst on holidays, it will take you six weeks to get the same amount of skiing in?

Am I right?

From what people have told us after the first few wk's of getting into a routine you should get at least 4 hours Per day and your day off per wk.

If I can get that much skiing in per wk I wouldn't mind working like a dog for 4 / 5 months!

In that case, there is certainly benefit in it.

This is something that we could consider, in actual fact - unless I'm too old at 62!!! :(

Do you think that it is difficult to get into?

It you are going to commit to a full season, you need to think about what you really want. You are clearly not a typical gap year seasonaire, who wants to party and board your way through a season in a fog of alcohol. I gather that most seasonaire's quickly get to a point where they will generally only bother going out on the slopes when conditions are particularly good. They can't be bothered with the white-out, slushy, windy, freezing cold, icy days that we generally tolerate on a typical holiday because we cannot bear to lose any ski team out of our extremely short trip:shock:

So bear in mind what you will do when you are not skiing (or working). Is there anything else to do in the resort or nearby? Is there any community that you can tap into, apart from 19 year old gap students? Do you want to mix with the locals and, if you do, is it realistic to think that you can?

If it was me, I would feel that the big French resorts have little to offer off the slopes. So my preference would probably be Austria - real communities with warm relatively open people, often interesting places to go/see in the vicinity and, of course, good skiing

St Anton would tick a lot of boxes

Finally, if you are going to do this, try to brush up on the relevant language -). There is nothing more pathetic, in my eyes than a seasonaire who makes no effort to learn the local language

Some reps we had on one of our holidays would be ski leading 3 days a week, skiing with their mates 2 days. On their day off they were off down into the valley to play golf!
