I think much of this was sorted for the Turin Olympics but worth checking the piste map carefully for the dreaded "single chair"

I think it may have gone - went last April and it wasn't where I recall it being from a few years ago.

They have also changed the one in Sauze up to Sportina for a faster model.

When I first went to Sauze, in 1973, the dreaded single chair from Sauze to Sportinia was half-chairlift/half-t-bar combination lift. It was Easter so the t-bar bit was out of use due to lack of snow low down - if you arrived at the wrong time, it was a massive wait for a chair to come around!

The thing up from Sportinia when I last went was a rickety old chair with what appeared to be chairs from the local village hall attached to it. Dreadful thing.

There are still a few old chairs - the ones that don't slow down for pick up so have to run slowly and perhaps too many button lifts for less confident skiers.
Later in the season the only way out of Sansicario seems to be two drag lifts as the skiable routes out lower down tend to close. (Strange as some of the lower runs in that area are served by modern chairs - perhaps they don't want you to leave!)

With a limited amount of investment the Sauze / Sansicario / Sportina side could be an early intermediates paradise.(With enough skiing to suite higher abilities too)

I've never used a single button lift in the whole area except in montgenevre.

It is an intermediates paradise and the more I think about it, the more I'd go back and ski it all again.

thanks for your replies. the ohter consideration i had was the sella ronda. I am once again going round the globe in the search for the best skiing option for us. I fancied italy because we have been to austria and france twice so wanted to try somewhere we hadnt been. I nearly just booked a holiday to Ellmau and then couldnt get the apartments I wanted. I just dont know where to go now. I just want a big cruisy area for me the hubby and 2 kids. ikeep reading back through old posts where i had asked for inspiration for cruisy holidays. Im just stuck. does everyone have this problem
