My OH took some friends to the airport who were going to Cyprus. He happened to have his passport with him, so he booked a flight there and then and got on the plane with them!
Another time he spoke to some friends on a Wednesday who were living in Australia but had decided it wasn't for them and so were planning to come home a few weeks later. He was on a flight out there by Friday, didn't want to miss out on a holiday so thought he had better get in quick.
I usually know where he is these days tho...
Booking a late deal

Me reason why I booked champoluc early because it doesn't go on late deals at least not until its the lady room eft.
I've always found somewhere on a late deal that would do nicely, even if not first choice.

I have booked many ski trips a couple of weeks before for seriously knocked down prices.
I booked sauze on the Wednesday and went on the Sunday: £129 half board
Booked mayrhofen 10 days in advance: £229 half board
Alpe d'huez booked 3 weeks in advance this January: half price at £349 chalet board
I'm quite happy to book late. It doesn't suit everyone because of time off work and some people being too fussy about accommodation or resort, however I can guarantee you'll find somewhere you'd be happy skiing at of you wait at a really cheap price. Just don't get hung up on a particular resort before you book.
Ally, wanting to be organised is a very poor excuse for missing out on a bargain!!! -)

Tony waiting for a late deal means you could be missing out on an early one & could be where you actually want to go instead of a late mystery tour, or even having to pay more.

I once did one of those Crystal deals where you knew the airport you were flying to (Chambery, as it happens) but not the resort or accommodation.
Ended up in Valmorel - would never have chosen it from the brochures etc, but had a great time in a wonderful hotel!
I'm a big fan of the mystery tour as a result!
