I found the best thing to do from st anton is ski an hour or 2 first thing, and end up down at Alpe Rauz/Stuben where you can take the bys round to Zurs/Lech/Sonnenkopf mid morning with hardly anyone on the buses.
People complain about busy lifts, buses, restaurants.....go at peak times and what do you expect ????
Personally, I'd spend more time over at Zurs etc from St Anton if there were a good lift link, but I think a lot of people may feel the same, and the slopes at St Anton are absolutely much busier than they are round the corner, and as a result this could result in these becoming busier.

Au contraire Wickers. You complained about the buses being full, and from what I remember you were trying to head off by bus at 8.30am round to Lech.

That's certainly NOT standard skiing everywhere. I can't say i have ever sat on a packed ski bus at anytime of the day. But then i have not skied in Austria and probably won't if thats 'standard' fare for those lowlands.
Ski in Ski out. Its the only choice for me.
