Garmisch is lovely and as Bennyboy said the lifts go quite high. Not sure, but I think the slopes are not open yet, usually about 20th. Same for Mittenwald, close by, thats lovely and quaint but not as high.
Then about half hour train journey is Seefeld/Austria, fabulous place lots of snow at the moment but slopes still not open.
Plus you are never to old to ski or board :lol:

Most of the resorts in Austria have had good early snow. We are going to Mayrhofen on friday, the town is only at 750 metres, the pistes are obviously a gondalla etc above, but even the town is white due to the unusual early low fall of the white stuff.
