I did not want to "focus" on search engines or how to find information.

Want "objective " information there are lots of sites to visit.

My goal was to have fun. To get persons to share interesting "information " they found and to also learn a little about skiing.

I noticed that you did not send in your "findings" during quiz, so let me first send to all participants the correct answers and then we will post on general chat site.

They do deserve some early information since they did try to get answers.

Now if you want to get an early start Bandit, get Fry's book on the history of skiing. 80% of items are from his book.

I hope you had fun at least thinking about the items.

I've simply asked for the J2 skiing community as a whole to benefit, by the posting of the questions and answers together publicly.

Pavel, I'm sorry I didn't take part in your quiz - it's just that I'm totally useless at that sort of thing, and I didn't know any of the answers :oops:

But AllyG, it is in the search or the quest for knowledge through which you would find the answers .... and have some fun learning some interesting ski facts.

Then more fun comes when we learn the correct answers and find how close our first thoughts were to these answers.

And on top of that ... even more fun comes when we end up slapping our foreheads, realizing how clear the questions were --- and we missed the point ! Question # 2 : CMA 10071982, comes to mind for me.

Yes fun to be had in skiing even when not on the snow !

Mike, maybe I am just too lazy to do the work to find the answers :oops:

I didn't mind doing Admin's quiz on avalanches because I either knew or guessed all the answers, so no research was required!

However, in spite of myself I have learned something as I now know that Hemingway skied (otherwise I don't suppose he'd have written about ski-ing) :D

So thanks Pavel for teaching me that much!

I think we all know that you cannot use "lazy" as an excuse. :D

I've been following all the work you've done for the J2Ski holiday ski trips. Nothing lazy about all that effort !! You are to be more than congratulated on this fine selfless work. If I was able, Mrs Mike and I would be joining you on these trips from our side of the pond. You are going to have a blast !!!

Well, I admit I really enjoy research and often spend hours on it ... so maybe it's the competitive element of quizzes that I don't like? I know I had to take 5 exams recently, and it was the first time for nearly 30 years that I've taken an exam and I found it incredibly stressful. I was really worried I'd end up being the dunce of the class!

However, I do feel rather guilty at not taking part, after Pavel went to all the trouble of designing the quizz and marking the results.
