Tony you say you do swimming to train. Can I ask how often you go swimming before your holidays and how much ie half hour, an hour etc.

I swim to keep fit, its all I do these days, as my knees are no good for football any more. I dont train specifically for skiing, but have got to the age where I need to do regular exercise in order to keep weight off. My knees are also no good for running, so I took up swimming 3 months ago. I swim 50 lengths of my local 25m pool early each morning, thats all; nothing serious. I dont do it to time, just for distance.
Before I go skiing, I spend time working on strengthening up my core and quads by doing more sit ups and squats, but thats about it to be honest. I am not a finely tuned athlete!
