Ski care prior summer storage

Obviously depends on what you have done exactly but on average about £20 for an edge and wax.
I said that i wouldn't buy due to the cost and inconvenience of travelling with them but i have since changed my mind.
Well, IMHO, i think too much worrying goes on around the handling of skis by the airlines. Sure they will get chucked about but on the whole skis are tough things, just look how we chuck them about the mountain and kick the crap out of our bindings ;-)
Just pack them well, I wrap bubble wrap around the tips and tails and wrap clothes around the bindings.
As for them being pinched in the airport, well thats your own fault if you choose to leave them laying about, would you leave your suitcase?
At the end of the day that is what insurance is for.
I researched my purchase online (and here) and then went to my local snowdome with my list of options, tried them all, and then bought cheaper online!
Now is the time to buy as prices are being reduced.....Tony spotted mine with about £150 off.

Mine always go in for a service after a week away. Dry them off, get them re-edged and lose the rust, and then a standard wax ready to go next season.

Mine are packed away now :-(
They were fully dried out, edged and waxed but the wax was left on.

i am not a ski owner, and probably never will be. But how much does it cost to service your skis?

Ah right, not expensive at all then. I thought it would be a high cost thing.
If I plan more than 2 trips next season I MIGHT consider it ;)

Dont you get obsessed that they might get trashed on the plane (I have seen them used like javalin by some luggage handlers?) Or when they are left in a cart in arrivals that some local chap runs off with them?
Do you tend to buy in resort where you can 'try before you buy'?
