Our 1st 2 skiing hols were in Norway and the ski equipment was excellent. Seemed almost brand new and we progressed well.
seemed much more stable and I think the waist was wider.
A big problem with rental skis for people new to skiing is whether the skis are serviced and tuned. Look at the base. It should look and feel silky/waxy. The structure should be evident - like a linear finger print along the PTex base. The steel edges should be able to remove a layer of finger nail when it is scraped across at 45 degrees. Running your finger down the edges, there should be no burrs or rough spots.
Slightly wider skis (74 to 82 waist) may feel more comfortable at low edge angles (slow speeds) as at any angle, the raised edge will be higher off the snow.
