Totally get that.
The DMC was packed this morning and I just had to keep my head down and hope it didn't sway to much
It's the Little gondolas that I don't like. This four person one in Northern MN has a really steep section where it feels almost vertical. Several years ago ago a car broke free on the steep section and slid back into two others before crashing. Now I like it even less, even though I guess the checks are more thorough now.
I had one very hairy gondola ride at Deer Valley in high winds, where the car had to stop for several minutes because it was swinging to much to bring it in to the lift station. A very white knuckle experience.
i have never seen any skis drop out of a telecabine.... as long as they are put in correctly, but normally the attendents make a good check that skis and boards are secure 8)

Those two lift feel a bit weird but they don't bother me, however I've been on both with people that have to close their eyes, they grip the bar like their lives depend on it.

Most unpleasant chair ride was in the US. Very windy day, chair with no safety bar or footrest. It's surprising how much skis catch the wind, and want to pull you out of the seat
Stewart, the feeling will diminish a little, with each chairlift you ride :D

I suppose there was an old cable car which has now been replaced from Chiesa village up to alpe 2000, the best part was coming down as it started over the snow line and then dropped over the edge of a sheer cliff face and you get that feeling of your stomach moving up to meet your neck ... beautiful views though but that was back in 1977. 8)

I don't like the really big cable cars much, especially when there are loads of skiers in them, packed in like sardines by the lift people, and I feel slightly wobbly and fragile standing in ski boots holding my skis, and the whole thing makes me feel a bit claustrophobic especially when the cable car starts moving and it sways about. And, just to make things worse, if it's one that climbs a long way very fast, I start feeling a bit sick as well because of the change in altitude.
The only time I've felt a bit scared in a chair lift was when the ski instructor started swinging it, because I thought I was going to be sick, and I had to ask him to stop doing it (in my rubbish French, because he didn't speak English).

Cheers for that, I hate gondolas as it is! In my head, there is a massive rush at the start to get 4 people in with rucksack and H then the ski/board on the outside. I spend the whole journey convinced that my skis will fall out, esp when go over the pylons! I go not enjoy them
The cable cars I am ok with. Unless I think of the James bond film when they all got stuck
Give me a drag lift any day.......
