Thanks all - didn't really agonise over it as it was the only sane and sensible thing to do.
However, this afternoon after carrying out a little research online and a few telephone calls to Austria, I'm even happier. The cost of the airport-resort transfer is being refunded, and I can switch my flight to later in the season for just £35. I've not paid for the hotel yet and was able to cancel with no penalty.
All in all, pretty content with what could have been a touch miserable!!!

Well, bummer about the original date, but great news about the changes.
I'm sure you know, but it is the sensible option, and unfortunately they are the one which often hurt the most.
I really hope you are fully OK for March, and get to have the second best week of weather for the season (the best week being the beginning of Feb when I go!) :twisted:

Sorry to read you had to cancel LOTA, hope you'll be fully recovered by March. Glad that the resulting financial pain wasn't too severe!

Sounds like the smart thing to do. Think of how much stronger and fitter you'll be. You'll have much more fun.

You lucky thing, you are now free of having to get up first thing and check the webcams and forecasts and then checking them every half an hour with that glimmer of hope that they have changed for the better. ) ) )
However, without a doubt you have made the right decision, great to see some money back. :thumbup:
Unfortunately when Jan comes the desire to web cam watch will be back and you won't be able to ignore it. :-)

You chose wisely. I ruptured my Achilles a few years ago and it took a long time to mend. You certainly do not want to rush it and re-rupture. That would be bad. Enjoy the trip in March.
