You'll find proper mountains in lots of Austria Ian

Hills are only in the outer lower lying areas. A certain place springs to mind

Now what place may that be ?????

Nice photos Alistair, looks like you were lucky with the weather. This summer has been pretty much a washout all over the Alps. Those chapels come in very handy when you need somewhere to shelter from the rain!

Hi Swingbeep,
I think we need another holiday to get over the week. I drove 2200 miles in one week! On the drive down we ran into thunderstorms and downpours all through Germany. We nearly got wiped out twice. On one occasion a van with a trailer lost control in front of us and crashed blocking the road. As we arrived in Austria it was raining but as we climbed higher towards Kuhtai it turned to heavy snow but from Sunday through to our return on Friday was sunshine. So all in all a great week. I think the Arlberg area was wonderful with lots of interesting scenery and some serious skiing in season.

Thanks for your help in relation to the bindings for my Palmers :D

Really enjoyed the photos Alistair, particularly of Oberbgurgl and Zug. How different without all the cold white stuff!

Thanks for those Alistair.

Austria was never a country I thought to venture to, not really sure why, but I am going this season and your pics may just help do a summer visit one year. It looks fantastic..

Thanks Janet, Ian and Far Queue,

We enjoyed it, but at our age, if we go again, we would fly to Innsbruck or Salzberg and hire a car. The drive was a killer and we are still recovering from it now. On the positive, it was great to see, in the limited time, Kuhtai, Obergurgl, Hochgurgl, Solden, St Anton, St Christoph, Stuben, Lech, Zurs and Zug. We went to Zug and visted the Chalet where we will be staying in January. It is just short of 100m from the Zug chair which is a bonus. We also saw the Orient Express stop at Innsbruck station and stayed one night in the Hotel Sacher in Salzberg. Wow, they know how to look after you there!

Now role on January, 122 sleeps
