VT is a great base for 3Vs, plenty of tree lined slopes in Courchevel easily assessable from VT.

Queues? In the Portes du Soleil?.....must have been half term...in which case there are lines all over Europe.

Get on the snow outside school holidays if you can!

It must have been a peak week because I can honestly say that I didn't have any problems with lift queues, apart from a on very few occasions, during the entire season. Believe me I would be moaning about it still if I had.

I didn't have any problems with queues in the 3V's either but i wasn't there very long.

We always go off peak, (26 big group holidays in the past 12 years) it's the only place that I'd say queues have been a issue.
I'd rather not ski than go at half term!
I don't know how much the lift system has been improved since I was last there but at the time it was years behind 3Vs.

The Portes du Soleil have assured me that they have especially improved the lift system in readiness for my visit

Hi Mikestan12,

I have been living in Morzine for a few years now (personal choice, I don't run a chalet or anything). Reason? Large ski area, attractive place and year round community. Obviously the criteria is different for a ski holiday, but I have also been to VT and find it hard to enjoy such overtly commercial/industrial destinations. Obviously skiing was great, but if that is not the ONLY thing you are after from your time in the Alps then I would say Morzine has more to offer.

Cheers

Alex

Morzine's a nice town but the pistes get crowded and there are queues for some lifts even off peak.
It is probably going to get worse as there was quite a bit of construction going on in Avoriaz.

I've been twice now and have no crushing desire to return. Perhaps I've not been on vintage snow years but even relatively high last March the pistes were more suited to a rock hopper! with rocks & grass poking through even high up.

Can't comment on VT

I went to VT once. Didn't like the resort particularly as its soul less and desolate, skiing was good, no major queues anywhere. I don't intend to return.

Haven't been to Morzine, but friends who have said they found it hard getting about the area.

1 good reason not to go to VT is prices for food and drink. I guess its pretty much the same across the 3V and France in the main, although I found ADH and Serre Che a fair bit cheaper. Still, if you people have to go to France......
