Coop, what you said was ~ "and then hopping over to Auffach (5 mins on free bus) to do the more challenging runs over there."
That is what I was picking you up on. Most of us think of Auffach as flat, but wide open, and enjoyable. All the main runs at Niederau are much steeper than any at Auffach. In particular, the Lanerkopfl/Hochberg combination is rated highly in Tirol.

hi Will,

you can try the region of Ischgl, this one is known for its great slopes and wide vacation-offer. Near Ischgl you can consider SEE, KAPPL or GALTÜR. This ski areas are very family friendly and each of them owns a ski-school as well as child-care. You can find information about this regions in the following pages:

If you want to step out of the hotel front door and jump on the lift - try Zauchensee. They have a good ski school, run by the former downhill skier, Michael Walchofer, and it's a very safe resort with good skiing for everyone. Try Ski Hillwood - they have a fantastic child care operation and are really nice people.

(I also enjoyed the skiing over at Auffach much more, mainly because there is a selection of slopes to choose from compared to what feels like literally 2 slopes in Niederau.
People are allowed to have preferences.

Niederau fan boy.....that made me snigger too  )

Now, if we can return to topic , I'd suggest Lech as somewhere to consider taking beginners and enjoying the wide area of more challenging runs around, with St Anton just round the corner if needs be.
