Hi Everyone,
My wife and i are wanting to go skiing on 23rd Jan and after hours, days, weeks of looking through brochures, scouring the web for cheap deals i feel no more equiped to decide where we should go, who we should book with etc
I would be really greatful if anyone could point me in a sensible direction.
I know this seems as bit vague but i dont want to ask too many questions so i dont overcomplicate things.
So far my wife is most keen on Bulgaria (Borovets) as it seems by far and away the cheapest and i seem to be drawn to Austria more (Niederau in particular) this is prob because i have been skiing to St johan when i was 12 in 1995.
Thanks and happy skiing (or boarding) to you all
Benny

Hello and welcome to J2ski. You've come to the right place for fabulous and probably rubbish advice too, but they're a good bunch.
Firstly, forget Borovets, they have absolutely no snow at the moment and I don't fancy their chances of getting much before 23 Jan.
Niederau is popular with some on here, I have no idea why but someone will be along to tell you why shortly I've no doubt.
Mayrhofen in Austria is a good shout for learners as you actually get to go up a proper mountain straight away and ski at altitude in good snow, although there are plenty of resorts that get good snow lower down, its nice to get up top early. Just my opinion.
There's a couple of things to keep you occupied until someone else chips in. Happy hunting!

Thanks Nelly, i'm sure there will be lots of advice and all of it useful in some way.
i was almost starting to panic as it is getting very near now, and although we always intended to book a late deal i guess i'm a bit worried about being limited on choice for somewhere suitable and ending up somewhere that wont be good for us.

Nelly is quite right. Avoid Bulgaria this time. Head for Austria, and put yourselves in the care of a tour op this time. Once you are well and truly hooked on skiing, you can make up your own (un)packaged package :D

Hi and welcome to the mad house. Is this your first time skiing/boarding. Have a look on the Crystal website. They go to Axamer Lizum/Austria on an all inclusive package. This includes flights to Innsbruck (20mins transfer), transfers, full board hotel thats breakfast and vouchers for lunch on most of the mountain cafe's, 4 course dinner. It includes lift passes, weeks board/ski hire and a weeks lessons.
I'm a laydee

Hi RoseR
It will be first time ever for my wife, i went to Skiing on a school trip once in 1995. I'll take a look at the all-inc stuff, sounds like minimum hassle.
Thanks
