Nelly, a wheelchair to get around Glastonbury sounds like a very good idea to me!

I'm not so sure about that Andy - have you ever tried carrying anything heavy in deep mud?

I remember years ago we were carrying a heavy yard gate through a very muddy field and my brother-in law's boots got stuck in the mud and we all kept walking so of course he fell flat on his face in the mud - I don't think I've ever laughed so much in my whole life

Andy - the problem would be that if one of the sedan chair bearers got stuck in the mud and fell over (like my brother-in-law), then maybe Nelly might get thrown out of the sedan chair and hurt her knee (and get plastered in mud as well!).

Naturally I don't know how much Nelly weighs, but I would estimate that the farm gate we were carrying weighed about 3/4 of a hundredweight, or about 84 pounds (6 stone), and I would hazard a guess that Nelly weighs more than that

I wonder if they supply special wheelchairs for Glastonbury which would be more suitable for the mud. Something like those they have for using on the beach might be a good idea, with balloon-like tyres?

The wheelchair we hired at Glastonbury was a bog standard chair, nothing special about it. It was ideal for what we wanted though, I did a fair bit of walking as well which has strengthened by leg and it feels pretty good considering.

I did get launched out of the chair numerous times by Mr Nelly and his shocking driving, we figured it out after a day though and no futher injuries were sustained.

How is the knee coming along?

I did some physio this morning and was declared 95% fit (14 months). Is only right at extreme range of motion, think standing on tip toe, that there is still some weakness. Sadly that last 5% is quite important for protecting knee but got some useful tips to keep things moving along.

Have properly started my pre-season fitness, managed nearly 750m vertical climb yesterday and will declare myself happy with progress if can double that before end of week. Was definitely a little wobbly on descent after so long. Calves are definitely the muscle that have suffered most throughout injury and were painful for the duration.

Fantastic weather in Chamonix and ultra marathon coming soon if people need a weekends motivation.
