Well, how has my afternoon been?

1. Went to Nationwide. I can take over the mortgage from the ex wife to be no problem

2. Came out to a £50 parking ticket

3. Got stopped by police on motorway on the way home

I still dont actually understand why I was stopped. I was tootling down the motorway doing 70. Rear view mirror blue lights and all that. I looked at speedo, was OK but instantly felt guilty.

Officer jumped out of his car asking me what speed I thought I was doing, I told him. He said, "yes you were....but while we are here lets have a look over your car shall we?" YES SIR.

He then spent 10 minutes examining every nook and cranny of my car (on the hard shoulder), to say - "Thats fine sir, have a good journey. Oh and next time, try and pull over a bit faster when we are behind you". YES SIR (the delay was me sh*tting myself!!)

Icy,
That's really scary

It's a good job they weren't doing a snot or vicks test

I got pulled in by the police a couple of years ago, on one of their routine drink/drive checks. The police thought they'd be clever and they were pulling in cars in batches, just before 9 a.m. to catch people who'd been out drinking the night before.

And when they told me they wanted to breathalyse me, I'm afraid I laughed. I said to them that if they found anything there was something very wrong with their machine because I hadn't drunk any alcohol in about 20 years! And afterwards the policeman said it seemed their machine was fine because the reading was zero

But, like you, they had a good look around the outside of my car and they asked me my age as well, which I imagine was to make sure it was me driving the car - because I'm sure they've got all my records and all the car's records on their computer system.

It did take me a moment, as well, to realize they wanted me to pull over - it's never happened to me before in 30 years of driving.

I've been pulled over once, as a 17 year old, doing 50mph in a 30mph zone. It was a dual carriageway on the edge of a town. I just hadn't seen the sign. Amazingly, Mr Plod let me off. I still can't believe it 28 years later!!

slippy slidey snow......me likey!
