I am not too sure that they are Awessome !!, they are limited to what angle is to be shot because of there fixed nature, I can see my self using about 30 seconds of film for editing, I'm still in two minds

I think the big advantages over a traditional handycam are: 1) completely waterproof 2) you can turn it on at the start of a run and then forget it is there.
There is definitely still a place for the handycam though, we are taking both with us this year and I hope that through using plenty of different angles with the gopro, and mixing in some handycam stuff too, I will have a varied and interesting video at the end.

I just watched the youtube video advert for it and I must say I'm impressed. Very tempted but it's not cheap by any means. The big problem is the attachments such as the pole or chest would be no good for me I guess as I snowboard? So I would only be able to use the helmet one which if we are honest looks a little ridiculous stuck on the top of your head.

Any one used one whilst snowboarding?

You can get side mounts that look a bit more 'normal'.

Plenty of snowboarders using a pole with their gopro too. Also, if you get the chest mount and the grab bag of mounts, you can use the "knuckle" that comes in the grab bag to face the camera more to the front.

On the other hand, the promotional clips are filmed with several cameras, synced up, and edited using very powerful professional video editing software. I am not saying that you won't get good results, just don't expect that you will have quite the same professional looking video at the end of your snow holiday.

Ok so I can get mounts to make it slightly less obtrusive then. I'm really tempted with this as I'm fed up of riding behind people in our group whilst holding a camera and trying to board at the same time.

The cam claims to record in full 1080 which should give pretty good/clear footage. What's it like for reducing vibration?

Not very good for reducing vibration. All the best videos that I have seen, seem to be shot from a pole. The pole seems to stabilize the image, as it always remains in the same place, while everything else moves about. Mounted to a ski or board looking backwards so that the ski or board is in the shot also seems to help. Alot of the helmet mount stuff is good, but tends to make me nauseous with all the bumping about.

Have a look on the GoPro website. It lists all the available mounts, so should give you a better idea if it'll be suitable.

You could of course engineer your own to better suit your needs
