I have just come back from Les Arcs and it was amazing.

I want to book a weekend skiing at the end of march but am struggling to find companies that offer them.

Please can someone give me some help or advice?

Thanks Ian,

I have found some flights for 50 each which is not too bad.

Do you know any websites or private owned chalets in either Austria or France which would offer a weekend ski break?

Any other websites would be helpful to for other countries as the flights are quite cheap.

I think that might be quite hard, you might get a few catered chalets which will do a short break, self catered can be a lot harder to find as they like the full week booked, I normally stick to hotels you have to shop around but there are plenty out there not tied to the TO's, just deal with the hotel direct and because of the lack of tie the quality of food is much higher. And you want find them full of brits normally just the local nationality.

Stewart, I'd be amazed if many independent chalets will turn you away in March - I've been doing DIY weekends / short breaks for years and never had a problem finding somewhere; especially outside the peak weeks.

Where are your flights to? If Geneva then I can recommend Gravite in La Clusaz who regularly put up with me and mine at short notice, and will sort the transfer from the airport (extra cost, of course) which makes life simpler.

There are many elsewhere too. Hotels are also much more flexible than they were a few years ago (especially if you leave the booking to the week before), so I think it's more a case of picking your resort(s) and dropping a few e-mails (and browsing through our pages, of course...

I've done a couple of short breaks to Samoens, Grand Massif.
Once we stayed in a hotel and the 2nd time we went to Les Terrasses.
www.samoenschalet.com

We had no problem getting a short break.

We had both the apartment and the larger chalet. The apartment would easily sleep 5 (or more if you don't mind cosy)
Eating out is not a problem in Samoens, the apartment is near to the town centre, but also in walking distance of the Gondola.

We've also stayed Neige et Roc hotel, lovely food! I would imagine they would take short break bookings. The hotel we did stay in for a short break is now closed.

The snow should still be great at the end of March and it's only an hour from Geneva.

We went to Alagna once for a short break. I have ever been so cold in my life!!!

We still have space for the 19th or 26th March here in La Clusaz and can offer a 3 or 4 night weekend from thurs or Friday to Sunday or Monday whichever suits.
It's a quick and easy weekend as La Clusaz is just an hour from Geneva and has been voted 'Best resort for offering maximum ski time'.

Take a look at www.gravite.co.uk for more information and call 020 8123 1284 or email dave@gravite.co.uk

The snow is awesome at the moment - especialyy with 30cm overnight last nights na more to come!!!
