Ye gods, all you so called experienced skiers! Don't look at the day time temperatures! It is the night time temperatures that count! Good quality snow will last for months, given cold night temperatures and good piste management. In a good resort, night temperatures last from 4.00pm til 9.00am in mid season, assuming a good north facing resort.
Cold night temperatures = recrystallization of the existing snow + new artificial snow + enhanced compaction from good piste management.
Get out on the first gondola for the best conditions.

My law, Dave. My law. Why waste part of a day when you are priveleged enough to be skiing doing something else I always say. Some of my friends like to laze in bed longer or take their time over breakfast.....you've got from when it gets dark to waste time!!!

Hinterglemm has several long runs that are floodlit, with few people using them. In the interests of the longevity of my marriage, I constrained to a normal days ski.

I did manage to get our group out on the first gondola of the day, last week.....a little white lie about the start time of the Gondel meant that we were first in the queue on the first morning. They loved that first run down on freshies, there were no issues for the rest of the week!

Thats what its all about Dave.

Wickers, I've been to 3 resorts that offered night skiing, and to be honest, we were so bushed from a full on days skiing that having got back to the chalet/hotel and had a couple of drinks and relaxed, we really couldnt be bothered.
We were going to do it when we arrived but things change, especially when you ski as hard as we tend to during a day.
Ellistine said he felt we skied a lot more than he normally would.

You gotta try it, it is great fun a bit like a roller coaster as normally the lights are so poor you can't see the dips comming
