Will probably be in Soll for a few days from 23rd. Maybe we'll get to watch the rugby somewhere together and have a pint, though I will be more interested in the London Irish v Leinster match obviously!

Anyone else in Soll around that time?

Wanderer - You never know our paths may cross, we are staying at the Postwirt. London Irish - Leinster kicks off I think 1800 UK time, we SHOULD!! land Innsbruck 1730 local (1630 UK) so its fair to say we will miss that game but it should be a cracker. In our group there's only me (Scarlet- less said the better) and a Tiger that are into their rugby so we may have to stick with the others to be social of course. Any bar you can suggest that we should use as a base camp. I have actually heard the bar in our hotel is half decent. Ten of us aged 40-53!! Like a laugh but our best dancing days are long gone!!

The bar in the Postwirt is usually quite lively in the evenings, usually with live music that will suit your (and my) vintage. There are a number of other bars within a short walk so you can easily cruise around and find what you like. For immediately after skiing, I would recommend the bar at the bottom of the piste (Moonlight Bar, I think). It is usually great fun with lots of OOmmpapa signingc and europop, often led by the bar staff. The Whiskey Mueller is the main disco but it tends to be very young!

At the moment there are only two of us travelling but we may still be joined by one or two more. I will be wearing a bright yellow, blue and black ski jacket and a black hat Guinness hat (living down to the stereotype I am afraid), though obviously not indoors in the pub!

Hi Folks,
3 of us are heading to Soll on 23rd also. Landing in Insbruck at 17:25. Anyone know what the snow is like out there ? Just checked the different sites and it seems like they are due some small falls of snow in the next few days. What the chances of a big fall before the 23rd?
Can't wait at this stage........

hi we just got back yesterday and it was a cracking week, there wasn't much fresh snow but the temps are low enough during the night for them to make some fairly good snow.

there was a good snow fall expected in salsburg last night and this might continue up country but as i say the skiing was really good even without a big fall

i hope you have fun, im thinking of trying to get back out before the end of the season

That's great news. We're going to Soll on 16th. Was there snow cover down to the village? Mrs Smoothie and I love the toboggan run but it needs snow down to the bottom to run properly.

Cheers

Just got back from Soll on Saturday, have to say the place is in great shape. A little icey in places, but pretty goos snow cover otherwise.

I would recommend a days skiing to Ellmau, Hopfgarten, and Wesendorf if at all possible. Lots of snow in Wesendorf, and the slopes are practically empty.

The Salvenstadl bar in Soll is rocking at the moment, so well worth a trip. Postwirt for a pint if you want a chat, but the band on Wednesday night are very good.

After that, the Whiskey Muhle is good if your young, free and single, while the restaurant upstairs is first class, slightly expensive though. Rossini's is nice too, with the ladies behind the bar quiet easy on the eye!

All in all, I love Soll, not too challenging i'm afraid, but 279Km of interconnected skiing is very enjoyable.
