Ally. Who are your instructors, the Gestapo?
And why do you insist on putting yourself through all that?
I go on a ski holiday to enjoy myself, work hard on the slopes, ski as much as possible from first to last lift, and see the scenery.
I will ski from between 8am to 9am depending on opening times, until 4.30-5pm depending on last lift. I stop for lunch for about 1 hour max, with a mid morning break for drinks.
I dont call that slacking or chilling out, but I dont need to be superman to do it either.
Methinks maybe you have got your idea of a holiday slightly wrong????

I do most of those exercises on a regular basis anyway to keep myself mobile, as I have AS. I'm more prepared for my skiing holidays than I thought I was! :D
That is so not fair, that you get to ski every day, even if you do have to teach  :D :D :D

I follow pretty much the same regime as Tony, although I start a little later maybe between 9 and 10. It is a holiday after all and enjoying breakfast together is something we just can't do when we are all working.
My exercise regime stopped on Christmas eve, I might do a few steps and crunchies over the next week to get myself warmed up a bit for next week. Actually I have been doing a bit of the 'TonyH' workout over the last two weeks-Running up and down escalators on my way to and from work in town

I have two different modes that i use now, Training mode and enjoyment mode. If was to enjoy myself, i pretty much do the same as Tony. But once in Training mode, i make sure im totally focused at what im doing. As i found that i was a lazy skiier, i have to really get my act together.
Theres a couple of good work outs that i found on this site that are quite good, where im working now there is a ski Gym above the ski centre where i can practise and work on the muscles need for getting myself in condition.

Tony,
I don't understand what's bugging you about my holiday. I like my holidays the way they are. That's what a holiday is all about isn't it? Doing things the way you want to. Well I like going flat out on my ski-ing holidays and doing the best I can. I really enjoy seeing how much I've improved. I'm learning all the time and one of the fun things is finding out how much more there is to learn.
I have to admit my holidays are a bit like a commando course, but that's how I like them. No-one is making me go self-catering or ski with the French in the afternoon, but I like the additional challenge of trying to speak French while I'm ski-ing.
I would never survive 2 minutes of lazing on a beach somewhere. I like to be doing things, which I suppose is one of the reasons I went in for farming. I'd hate a desk job. And I would say I've always been much fitter and stronger than most other women. It's the way I am.
As I said before, I'm not telling other people how fit they have to be for their ski holidays. I don't mind if they stay in bed all morning and only ski for an hour in the afternoon. As long as they have a good holiday it doesn't matter.
Theobane,
I find having lessons morning and afternoon does make me focus on my fitness and my ski-ing. I only get one week, or possibly two weeks, of ski-ing all year so I like to make the most of it. You're lucky you've got a ski gym handy to help you get fit :D. I do all my fitness training at home, or out in the fields and the road. In the summer I stay fit naturally because I'm working outside most days.
Snowbandit,
What's AS? I think you are very sensible exercising on a regular basis. I think that's the best way to do it, rather than having to rush it just before a ski holiday.
