Does anybody know if the stuff from the Spyder Ski Store in Yorkshire is genuine. They sell some of the more low key stuff and describe it as previous season's stock. Price is okay for real but damned high for fake!

The jackets look fake and match descriptions one guy posted on ebay. Specific reference was given to sales tag placement and apparently Spyder tags will always be on arm and never on zipper like in the photos of women's jackets. Also would usually advertise jackets with formal reference to the Spyder name, Vail, Zermatt etc. Expensive for fakes as fakes can be bought in bulk very cheaply. http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/fake-spyder-on-ebay_W0QQugidZ10000000003832688

Snow Time wrote:I have just bought a Spyder Legend jacket from them and I'm really impressed with it. Styles are obviously down to individual preference but Spyder gear is certainly very comfortable, warm and has pockets in all the right places without going overboard.

The arms are on the jacket detachable (if you're that way inclined) and the collar is high enough to act as a neck gaiter without riding too high. The lining is just the right thickness and allows room for a fleece underneath for really cold days on the slopes.

I must admit that I wasn't completely sure about buying from Spyder Ski Store as I couldn't find any reviews online and they use a mobile rather than landline, but they responded very quickly to requests for information and extra photos before I bought the jacket and it arrived via Royal Mail next day special delivery.

If the jackets are fake as has been suggested, does that mean that new poster Snow Time is a Spammer, or a victim of counterfeiting?

Bandit,
As soon as I read that first post by Snow Time, I thought it was a disguised ad by that store, but I wasn't sure, so I thought I'd better keep my mouth shut.

If you are genuine, Snow Time, then I'm sorry, but I have a very suspicious mind.

Unfortunately it means I've been a victim of counterfeiting. The jacket arrived on Monday and fits like a glove, is very comfortable and warm and also completely waterproof. Unfortunately though - it's a fake.

It was only when I stumbled on an eBay Spyder buyers guide that I discovered that the jacket was counterfeit and changed my original post immediately. Fortunately the company is refunding the £115 after I sent a pointed email. Having done a bit of digging, the jacket can be bought from a Chinese supplier for $40 / £28 plus delivery. Not a bad mark-up for a fake Spyder dealer!

I am amazed that Trading Standards haven't closed them down. eBay is one thing, but to have a website set up in the UK to sell dodgy gear is brazen to say the least.

This week I aaaaarv been mostly........ skiing
