The reason j2ski is not the #1 ski website (when it should be really) is because it is cliquey.

I won't repeat myself but there are people on this forum who I really admire.

I'm not too sure I'll post again.

Now don't be like that julietP :!: You can go ahead and tell the others that you do admire me if you wish -- I'll try to contain myself  I'm sure the others won't hold it against you. (Must be my avatar. ))

But seriously, in my mind J2Ski IS the # 1 ski site :!: Wherever there are people deeply interested in a subject there will be difference of opinion. Some people may take a difference of opinion personally but we look beyond that and learn what we can from all comments.

You cannot "leave" because you would miss lots more than expansion of knowledge - you would miss the ever changing avatars, the news of how ellistine will make the UK Olympic Sailing team, you will miss first hand news of when souldrive makes it to even a greater musical level, you will miss the next Pavel Quiz ... right there is enough reason to stay tuned. Also missed will be the news of when Jan opens for the season. Just too much to miss out on ...
And as you have read, you will be missed by all on this site.

And isn't it the "rule" that no one can leave a ski site just before the season gets underway :!: :?:

excellently put as always Mike :D

Mike - this is the only ski site worth visiting, Dave told me so

Besides which, any differences in opinion usually result in highly amusing threads that help to pass those dank nights whilst counting down the number of days til you ski :!:
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

Why , thank you for that freezywater :D You're too kind :!: And now I'm really glad you're back  :D

And I agree with both you and Dave (about the only ski site worth visiting). Actually it was Pavel who told me about J2Ski a couple of years ago and I think those were his words as well :!: He was really impressed with the people he found here.

Your difference of opinion comment is very true also :!: And we need to be able to laugh at ourselves in order to survive this world. There's not much fun in being too serious. And if it isn't fun why bother?

I'm more than happy posting the odd message or two here but still feel a bit intimidated posting threads on the sailing forums I also visit.

I think ellistine has hit the nail on the head about feeling self conscious despite being anonymous! The fear of a joke/comment being taken the wrong way is one reason I re-read my comments about 10 times!!! Maybe a sarcastic smiley, or an only kidding smiley (not sure what it would look like) would be a good way for people to more confident about their posts!!

I really dont think there is a problem with friendlyness on here, I have never seen any real conflicts and the gentle banter (particularly Niederau vs Mayrhofen) is generally quite amusing!!

Wouldnt it be a very boring place to be if everyone had the same opinions! (At least we all agree on one thing......snowsports are the best!!!) :D
