A lady in the knee physio class that I go to has been trying to avoid the op but, after 5 months of hard work, she has given in and decided that she has to have it if she ever wants to play netball or swim breaststroke to the best of her ability again!
Someone I ski with has no acl. Despite being super fit and running marathons, it does affect her skiing. when properly angulating there is a lot twisting force on the knee. From what I can see, strength and determination may not be enough to feel comfortable in that position.
